In response to Tin Drum's installation Medusa at Pioneer Works, music producer, percussionist, and Pioneer Works Music Resident Alum Matt Evans leads a multi-week recording workshop focused on environmental music and personal myth making. Participants will work with simple field recording techniques and a digital audio workstation to record and manipulate sounds in the production of 5-6 minute environmental music tracks that embody a conflation of science and individual mythology. Prompts for the workshop include: what is (are) our environment(s)? How do we listen to them and how can we record them? What mythology grows in the cracks between our experience and our perception? What is the difference between real and unreal sound?

Date: This three-time in-person workshop meets on Sundays April 2 (lecture and hands on demonstration), April 9 (optional working session), April 16 (share and class critique) from 1-5PM.

Price: $100

Audience: Open to anyone with working knowledge of a digital audio workstation.

Materials: BYO-DAW (Laptop or device with digital audio workstation required), audio interface and other recording materials suggested but not mandatory.

Accessibility: Classes will meet on the 2nd floor, which is accessible via stairs.
