We're pleased to announce the first major renovation of Pioneer Works! To accommodate the first phase of our construction, we're temporarily relocating to 133 Imlay Street opening in Spring 2022.

Early Closure 5/10/23

Due to programming, Pioneer Works will be closed to the public on Wednesday, May 10. We will be open from Thursday through Sunday for the remainder of the week. Learn more and plan your visit 

Thanksgiving Closure

Pioneer Works will be closed on 11/28 - 11/29 in observance of Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage Day.

Pioneer Works offers guided group tours as well as educational tours for K-12 students. Tours can be customized in the areas of visual arts, science, technology, and music.

Pioneer Works offers unique, scalable spaces and a 20,000-square-foot garden that can accommodate a wide variety of events: from large-scale build outs, conferences and dinners, to film shoots, screenings and intimate receptions.

Pioneer Works is located at 159 Pioneer Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Beginning September 7th, 2024, our galleries and garden are open to the public Wednesday through Sunday 12-6 pm.

We know access is an iterative and ongoing process. Please contact info@pioneerworks.org to share accessibility questions regarding your upcoming visit or feedback on our policy.

Everyone is welcome at Pioneer Works, and we strive to create an inviting and inclusive environment for all visitors. To this end, we’re currently in the process of implementing changes to make our entire building ADA accessible as part of our Capital Improvement Plan, which is set to be completed in January 2025. Thank you for your patience as we work toward improving the infrastructure of our beloved 19th-century building.

Currently, the Pioneer Works’ main entrance and first floor is wheelchair accessible. The garden now features an ADA-accessible pathway. There are two flights of stairs leading to the second floor of the building (29 steps), and there are three flights of stairs leading to the third floor of the building (48 steps). Visitors are encouraged to use the restroom most closely aligned with their identity. Restrooms on the first floor are wheelchair accessible. There are three single-stall restrooms on the second floor and one single-stall restroom on the third floor.

We have printed didactic materials translated in English, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese for exhibitions on-view which are available upon request at the front desk. Service animals are always welcome to Pioneer Works. For paid programs, caregivers are admitted with visitors free of charge—please email info@pioneerworks.org so our team can prepare for your visit.

There are medics and trained staff onsite for all of our programs—if you are ever feeling unsafe or uncomfortable, please let us know so we can assist you. Reach out to info@pioneerworks.org with questions or concerns.

The health and safety of our visitors and artists is our top priority. Proof of vaccination and masks are no longer required, except for select events at the artist’s request. If you test positive for Covid or feel sick, have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, or trouble breathing, we ask that you stay home.

Please be considerate of the artists-in-residence and their studios while visiting Pioneer Works. To help us protect the artists' space and work, please do not touch artwork without consent, and only allow five people in a studio at one time.
