How to Trap a Demon
Alumni Resident Tamar Ettun invites participants to “trap” their inner demons. During the first session, participants will engage remotely in a playful, experimental movement that considers how bodies move, both together and alone, as an expression of healing. Using fruit and household items as props for these exercises, Ettun will lead participants through a series of multisensory movements to uncover our demons. Once our demons are identified, participants will use art to gather up some protective magic and trap our demons as we make our own incantation bowls, also known as devil-trap bowls, using household items like a paper plate, polymer clay, or paper and tape.
Date: This two-part workshop meets on Tuesday, June 9 and Tuesday, June 16. Each session is from 7-8pm EST.
Audience: Open to anyone willing to confront their demons via movement and art.
Materials: For the first session, please wear comfortable clothes you can move in. For the second session, please gather either paper, writing utensils, scissors, and tape or polymer clay.
Participants can opt-in to receive texts from Lilith, the empathic demon, for poetry, drawings, and movement exercises leading up to the class by texting 833-575-1049.
