Join Visual Arts Resident Ilana Harris-Babou to create soap sculptures. Upon registering you will receive a video tutorial to make your soap sculptures on your own time. Then on April 29, join Harris-Babou to learn more about her work, to troubleshoot, and to share your soap sculptures.

Date: This one-time online workshop meets on Thursday, April 29 from 7-8pm ET via Zoom.

Price: Registration with a supply kit is $40. Registration without a supply kit is free with a suggested donation of $10.

Audience: Open to all ages. Kids under 12 should work with an adult.

Materials: You can opt to buy a supply kit or bring your own supplies using this shopping list.

Ilana Harris-Babou’s work is interdisciplinary; spanning sculpture and installation, and grounded in video. She speaks the aspirational language of consumer culture, using humor as a means to digest painful realities. Her work confronts the contradictions of the American Dream: the ever unreliable notion that hard work will lead to upward mobility and economic freedom. She has exhibited throughout the US and Europe, with solo exhibitions at 80WSE, The Museum of Arts & Design, and Larrie in New York. Other venues include Abrons Art Center, the Jewish Museum, SculptureCenter, the De Young Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. She holds an MFA from Columbia University and a BA from Yale.
