Emily Skillings and Lucy Ives
Pioneer Works and The Song Cave are happy to celebrate the publication of Emily Skillings’s debut poetry collection, Fort Not. Emily will be accompanied by poet and novelist Lucy Ives, the author of Impossible Views of the World (Penguin, 2017) and The Hermit (The Song Cave, 2016). Join us for an evening of readings in honor of their new books.
Emily Skillings is the author of two chapbooks: Backchannel (Poor Claudia) and Linnaeus: The 26 Sexual Practices of Plants (No, Dear/Small Anchor Press). She lives in Brooklyn, where she is a member of the Belladonna* Collaborative, a feminist poetry collective, small press, and event series.
Lucy Ives is the author of the novel Impossible Views of the World, published by Penguin Press. Her writing has appeared in Art in America, Artforum, Lapham’s Quarterly, and Vogue, among other publications. For five years she was an editor with the online magazine Triple Canopy. A graduate of Harvard and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, she holds a Ph.D. in comparative literature from New York University. She teaches at the Pratt Institute and is currently editing a collection of writings by the artist Madeline Gins.
