Fact Craft:
Open Call Deadline
“Alternative Facts” are everywhere. Join us in responding to this term. Fact Craft is a collaborative, cross-disciplinary program series that examines the ways “facts” are constructed, crafted, presented and disseminated.
Each event invites a participant to facilitate a group action that intervenes in, questions, or subverts systems of ‘fact craft’ across disciplines, from music to science, dance to journalism, history to computation. These actions address oppressive cultural systems—of commerce, representation, communication, and information—by generating alternatives and jamming existing ones. Together we will deploy memes, music, software, dance, writing, artifacts, and more.
Fact Craft kicks off during Pioneer Works’ June Second Sunday program, and will be followed by 9 intimate programs. In each program we will co-create a toolkit to catalyze action. Interested participants will have the opportunity to meet and collaborate on their own actions during weekly Study Hall hours in Pioneer Books, where related resources will be available. The series will culminate in November 2017 with a celebratory public event that includes presentations of participant projects.
