Fennesz & Charles Atlas Live: Closing Performance feat. Lazar Bozic
For the first time since 2007, Christian Fennesz and Charles Atlas will reunite to perform a collaborative live AV set with immersive sound and visuals within Atlas’s The Mathematics of Consciousness exhibition, with support from Lazar Bozic, who composed the exhibition's score. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime performance as we celebrate the closing of Atlas's exhibition.
Combining Fennesz’s lush electric guitar and laptop compositions with Atlas’ innovative live video mixing of sampled film footage, prepared clips and improvised collage, this evening brings together two of today’s pioneering artists in a virtuoso performance.
About the artists:
Charles Atlas is a video artist and film director. He is a pioneer in developing media-dance, also called ‘dance for camera’, and while his primary artistic medium is video, he has experimented with live electronic performance since 2003.
Christian Fennesz lives and works between Vienna, Austria and Paris, France and creates a shimmering, swirling electronic sound of enormous range and complex musicality. His densely layered compositions have an inherent naturalism, evocative of light, texture and atmosphere.
Lazar Bozic (b. 1991; lives and works in New York City) is a multidisciplinary artist, who works primarily in music and video. With Sediment Club—a project functioning across the genres of no-wave, noise rock and improvisation, founded alongside Austin Julian and Jackie McDermott in 2009—Bozic has toured North America extensively, and collaborated with artists such as improvisor Michael Foster, poet and thinker Felix Bernstein, and post-punk pioneers Bush Tetras. Additionally, he founded LGHQ with Garrett Rosenblum in 2014, and produced electronic scores for artists such as Charles Atlas, Violet Dennison, Jordan Strafer and Larry Bovik. Through his various projects, he has released music with independent labels such as Wharf Cat Records, Ramp Local, Anno, Crude Tapes, NNA Tapes, Feeding Tube Records and Softspot Records. He has performed or shown his work in different galleries and art spaces including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; The Kitchen, New York; Entrance, New York; and The Glove, Brooklyn; among others.
Presented in collaboration with Public Records.
