Gibby Haynes
Visual Arts Residency
Gibby Haynes is an American musician, radio personality, painter, and the lead singer of the band Butthole Surfers. He received a BA from Trinity University. His work has been featured in exhibitions at Robert Berman Gallery in Santa Monica, California and The Station in Houston Texas. He translates his long-term relationships with sound and the hardcore movement into abstract paintings. Using bold, contrasting colors, he creates 8-foot square canvases of concentric geometric forms that echo out from the center much like vinyl record. Gibby Haynes’ residency at Pioneer Works was in partnership with Recess.
