John Gordon Gould
Visual Arts Residency
John Gordon Gaul lives and works in New York City. A graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design, he works primarily as an oil painter, using such materials as silverpoint, egg tempra, and plaster. His work is influenced by Renaissance art and pop culture, two categories that find harmony in his still lives. Since 1998, he has been creating window display painting for Bergdorf Goodman, a collection that was published into a book by Assouline in 2010. John Gordon Gauld was an Emergency Flood Resident, and was given studio space at Pioneer Works after Hurricane Sandy flooded his own studio. During his residency, he worked on eight watercolor studies in preparation for his next solo show of paintings.
