Lisa Schonberg
Music Residency
Lisa Schonberg is a percussionist, composer, and environmental sound artist with a background in entomology and ecology. She earned her Masters in Environmental Studies at the Evergreen State College with a focus on ant biodiversity. Lisa uses field recording, writing, and music composition to document inconspicuous elements of ecosystems with the goal of accentuating environmental issues, often in collaboration with ecologists. Her recent work includes investigations of endangered Hawaiian Hylaeus bees, old growth forests in Oregon, and ant acoustics and soundscapes in Amazonas, Brazil. Lisa composes for Secret Drum Band and UAU. She is the author of The DIY Guide to Drums, and writes for Tom Tom and She Shreds magazines.Â
