Insectageddon: Street Tree Ecosystems with Red Hook Farms at Red Hook Initiative
Join Pioneer Works and farmers from our neighborhood partners at Red Hook Farms to explore insect ecosystems on Red Hook’s sidewalks and public tree beds. We will plant, mulch, observe & cultivate pollinator habitats while caring for the urban forest on Hicks & Henry streets. Bring gloves if you have them, tools will be provided.
This program is part of Insectageddon, a day-long festival on The High Line, featuring site-specific programming at partner sites around the world. Inspired by artist Cecilia Vicuña and culminating the High Line’s month-long horticulture celebration celebrating insects, Insectageddon seeks to both reflect on and raise awareness for our interconnectedness with the insect world.

About Red Hook Initiative
Red Hook Initiative (RHI) believes that social change to overcome systemic inequities begins with empowered youth. In partnership with community adults, RHI nurtures young people in Red Hook to be inspired, resilient and healthy, and to envision themselves as co-creators of their lives, community and society. RHI envisions a Red Hook where all young people can pursue their dreams and grow into independent adults who contribute to their families and community.
